Returns & Refunds Policy
Last updated: 20 August 2026
At Watchdog Alarms, we want you to be confident when purchasing security equipment from us.
This Returns & Refunds Policy applies in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under the ACL.
30-Day Change-of-Mind Returns
We accept approved change-of-mind returns within 30 days of you receiving your order.
To qualify for a change-of-mind return, the product must be:
unused and uninstalled;
not programmed, activated or registered;
in its original packaging;
complete with all accessories, manuals, cables, mounting hardware and other supplied items; and
in a condition suitable for resale as new.
Proof of purchase is required.
Please contact Watchdog Alarms before returning any product. Returns sent without prior approval may be refused.
Restocking Fee
Approved change-of-mind returns and products incorrectly ordered by the customer are subject to a 10% restocking fee.
The restocking fee does not apply where a product is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied by Watchdog Alarms, or where you are otherwise entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law.
Opened, Installed or Programmed Security Equipment
Security equipment can contain configuration settings, registration information, activation data or installation marks that prevent it from being resold as new.
For this reason, products that have been installed, programmed, activated, registered or materially used cannot be returned simply because you have changed your mind or ordered the wrong item.
This restriction does not affect your rights where the product is faulty or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law.
Products Not Eligible for Change-of-Mind Returns
Unless faulty or otherwise covered by the Australian Consumer Law, we do not accept change-of-mind returns for:
specially ordered or custom-configured products;
products that have been installed, programmed, activated or registered;
cut cable or other products supplied to a custom length;
software, licences, activation codes or digital products once supplied or activated;
monitoring, cloud or subscription services that have already commenced;
clearance or final-sale products where identified as such before purchase; or
products that are incomplete, damaged or no longer in resaleable condition.
Cancelling an Order
If you contact us before your order has been dispatched, we will normally cancel the order and provide a full refund.
Once an order has been dispatched, it will be treated as a change-of-mind return and the conditions in this policy will apply.
Special-order or custom-configured products may not be cancelled once we have committed to purchasing, configuring or preparing the product specifically for your order.
Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products
Please contact Watchdog Alarms as soon as possible if you believe a product is faulty, damaged in transit or different from what you ordered.
We may need to inspect or test the product to determine the nature of the problem.
Where a product fails to meet a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy depending on the circumstances and whether the failure is major or minor.
A restocking fee will not be charged for a return arising from a valid fault, warranty claim or Australian Consumer Law remedy.
Where reasonable return shipping costs are payable by Watchdog Alarms in connection with an accepted faulty or incorrectly supplied product, we will arrange the return or reimburse the reasonable cost of returning it.
Manufacturer Warranties
Many products sold by Watchdog Alarms also include a manufacturer's warranty.
Manufacturer warranties operate in addition to, and do not replace, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
For manufacturer warranty claims, we may ask for information such as the product serial number, details of the fault and, where relevant, evidence of professional installation.
Installation and Compatibility
Customers purchasing equipment for self-installation or installation by another provider are responsible for confirming that the products ordered are compatible with their existing equipment and intended application.
We strongly recommend contacting Watchdog Alarms before ordering if you are unsure which product you require.
Incorrect compatibility or ordering the wrong product will normally be treated as a change-of-mind return rather than a product fault.
This does not affect any rights you may have where you relied on advice provided by Watchdog Alarms in selecting a product.
Return Shipping
For approved change-of-mind returns:
the customer is responsible for return shipping costs;
original delivery charges are not refundable;
products should be securely packaged; and
we recommend using a tracked and insured delivery service.
Watchdog Alarms is not responsible for damage caused to a change-of-mind return while it is being transported back to us.
Refunds
Once an approved return has been received and inspected, we will advise you of the outcome.
Approved refunds will be made to the original payment method. Please allow up to 10 business days for the refund to be processed after approval, with additional processing time potentially applying through your bank or card provider.
Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
How to Request a Return
Before sending anything back, please contact Watchdog Alarms with:
your order or invoice number;
the product you wish to return;
the reason for the return; and
details and photographs where the product is damaged or believed to be faulty.
Once your return has been approved, we will provide return instructions.
